The Proposed Amendment Changes
These proposed amendments to the City Charter are on the November 3rd ballot. Please pay careful attention to the requirements set forth in each as changes to a City Charter has long-lasting and far-reaching consequences. WHAT THEY MEAN
The Proposed Amendment Changes
“The obvious effect of the proposed charter amendments, if approved, is to virtually guarantee that no future sidewalks would be built on residential streets, at least not as standalone projects." This is primarily due to the proposition that all the engineering and design work would have to have already been completed before neighbors approval could be sought (Prop A).

ON THE MERITS OF CHOICE
The Proposed Amendment Changes
Ask yourselves why something that should be a simple choice handled via the democratic process needs 3 separate amendments with multiple limitations. The proposed amendments do not offer choice. They put obstacles in the place of it.
